  2. I'm looking forward to your future blogs on Paris! Jean Seberg is so chic in this film with her stripey outfits. But I must admit that I had a crush on nonchalant Jean-Paul Belmondo while I watched this film the first time. My fascination with French men began after seeing this film!

  3. Hi Sally-

I am having fun. There's the YSL exhibit at the Petit Palais, and lots of art and antique auctions jumping at the moment. You'll hear about them.

    Joni-
    News soon...some great insider tips.

    Super--
You are the best. Last summer I went to Montparnasse cemetery and among other 'people' I visited there, was Jean Seberg's granite grave. It was covered with flowers.
I believe that Jean Paul Belmondo is still alive and kicking on the Riviersa-

  8. A bientot Cherie,

As soon as I saw "Breathless" I had the memory of Jean Seberg calling "New York Herald Tribune!" one of my favourite parts of the film... and HOW I want that T-shirt.

Enjoy your Parisian delights, looking forward to reading your pearl drops now that I'm back, X.

  10. I spend a couple of months a year in Paris, but my life there is less than glamorous ~ not to complain but I am so looking forward to "seeing" Paris through the sophistication of your eyes, Diane. I hope you enjoy every minute.

  11. Dear Lisa-
Thanks for your vote of confidence.
Warm here now, so Paris girls' uniform is either all-white linen (chic) and sandals, or jeans and light top and 'ballerines'...the ballet flats that girls here love.
My uniform..white linen. Works well for walking and galleries and exploring and everything in city...lots of energy, so rewarding.
    cheers, D

Cristin-welcome and so pleased to welcome you to THE STYLE SALONISTE. please tune in often and send your comments and insights.

Hi Vicki-will be posting on Paris in a couple of weeks. It is CANICULE here for the moment and very warm. I love it. Must be hot in Provence. fondest.
Clarity--chere...lovely to hear from you with your felicitations and kind thoughts. Amicalement, DIANE
BONJOUR Stephane...merci mille fois a vous--et a bientot. Merci pour votre message. D
Jermaine-Your thoughts on Paris are so kind. I wish I could magically transport my friends here. It is a lovely sunny afternoon. Just walked with friend in the Jardin du Luxembourg...with an oompah band playing in the rotunda. Many of the best things, like that, in Paris, are totally free. I walk everywhere or take the Metro (fun and a challenge)...went antiquing at the Porte de Vanves and the marche at Rue Brancion...a hidden treat. French pastries afterwards to reward lots of walking.
Cheers to dearest friends...I love hearing from you and always so appreciate your good wishes and thoughts and ideas and insights.
So very wonderful and truly lovely, DIANE

  13. Hi Diane,

Hope you are having a fabulous time in Paris. Can't wait to hear about your adventure. I also wanted to let you know I finally had a chance to listen to your interview on The Skirted Roundtable. I can't thank you enough for you willingness to share your insight on so many subjects. For those of us with our nose to the grindstone daily churning out design work, having an interview full of great information from someone like you is priceless. I've told Joni, Megan & Linda they are like the "Charlie Rose Show" of the blog world....an hour full of information with no commercial breaks! Love it. Have a great week.

  15. I instantly recognized this still from one of my favorite films. I remember when I lived in Paris, in the nineties, Jean Paul Belmondo would sometimes appear on the local stage, his face adorning posters in the metro. 'Breathless' is, of course, the defining film of the New Wave genre, and I love Godard's attitude as a filmmaker, but my favorite Belmondo role from the 60's is in Truffaut's Mississippi Mermaid, with Catherine Deneuve.

I look forward to your Paris dispatches. Enjoy!
